At CTC we are passionate about story telling and want to reach the widest audience we can. With this in mind, we produce unashamedly populist work, though always with a subversive undercurrent of cheekiness, eccentricity and fun.
Whilst we acknowledge theatrical traditions we believe that no text is sacred and we should always find a "way in" for our audience. As a result, our theatre should feel very "now" both in its content and in the truthful urgency of its performance. We shudder at the thought of producing anything "ordinary".
Cherwell Theatre Company was established in 2004 and co-founded by actor & director Nasser Memarzia and Karen Corradi. Over a decade later we remain a strong theatrical presence in North Oxfordshire - meet the team!
Pirate Quote of the Week:
“I am a man of fortune, and I must seek my fortune.”
Henry Avery, infamous pirate (1659-1699)
Another year, another pantomime - next January, we'll be preforming a panto-style adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel Treasure Island. However, this is a very loose adaptation, and we are taking quite substantial liberties with the source material (a robot pirate anyone?). Hopefully this will be a light and fun play suitable for all; after all, in our ever turbulent times, is anything more valuable than pure escapism?
Tickets are now available to be booked online - keep up to date with all the relevant news and information on this site, which will be updated on a regular basis. You can also expect lots of interesting entertaining articles related to pirates!
Stay tuned for more information, same bat-time, same bat-place!

Last Monday was the second rehearsal of many for our show. It was a very productive day for everyone involved. The cast were able to really nail the harmonies on one of the many original songs in this year's panto! And the production team were able to go through all the costumes with our amazing costume designer Jon Johnston. This is the first year we have had a member of our team solely focused on costume design, liaising with the wonderful Jeanette from Wacky Wardrobes. I'm sure this year's costumes will be outstanding and full of character! On top of this, we are very excited to have some new faces joining us for our panto this year as well as some very familiar faces too. We hope you all enjoy what we have in store for you this year!
